Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a part of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
